Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that Sammy Ameobi is "running out of chances" at the club.
The 22-year-old impressed after making his first-team debut three years ago, but has struggled to maintain a place in Pardew's starting XI.
The 53-year-old coach has suggested that he may look to offload Ameobi, who came on as a substitute in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Hull City, if the forward does not improve.
"Sammy is a player who has unbelievable talent and we have been waiting and waiting for him to deliver something on the football pitch," Sky Sports News quotes Pardew as saying.
"I warned him last week that I am running out of time with him and he is running out of chances. Against Hull, he came on and changes the game a little bit, running up the pitch and taking players on.
"That is what we want from him but then he concedes a free kick and we could lose the game. These are the things you have to learn even in a pressure situation like Saturday."
Ameobi, who has come through the youth ranks at Newcastle, had a loan stint at Middlesbrough last year.
