Newcastle United are reportedly plotting a new bid for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga.

Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a fresh £8m bid for Modibo Maiga in January, after missing out on the Sochaux striker during the summer transfer window.

Maiga is known to be unsettled at the French club and wants to move to a top league.

"At the moment I am here and scoring goals," Maiga said. "I do not know when the transfer window opens what there will be. It depends also on the club, but in the near future I want to ply my trade in another top league."

Sochaux were unhappy with the way the Magpies approached Maiga during the summer, and reported the club to FIFA for allegedly approaching the player in an illegal manner.
