FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke has insisted that he has nothing to feel guilty about after being accused of authorising a £6.5m bribe to award South Africa the 2010 World Cup.
Valcke's name was recently linked to an alleged bribe paid to then-colleague Jack Warner in relation to the tournament.
The 54-year-old has not been charged by either Swiss or US authorities investigating alleged corruption within FIFA.
"I have no reason to say that I shouldn't remain secretary general," Valcke is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Regarding what's happened in the last days, because I have no responsibility I'm beyond reproach and I certainly don't feel guilty. So I don't even have to justify that I'm innocent."
FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced on Tuesday that he would be resigning from his position within the next nine months.
