Chris Hughton "absolutely frustrated" with stalemate

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton says that he is "absolutely frustrated" following the 0-0 draw with Cardiff City at Carrow Road.

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has admitted that he is "absolutely frustrated" with his team's failure to take their chances following the 0-0 draw with Cardiff City at Carrow Road.

The Canaries dominated the clash with Malky Mackay's men but struggled to convert the opportunities necessary to claim the three points, with Leroy Fer, Gary Hooper and Anthony Pilkington all spurning guilt-edged chances for the hosts.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after the game, Hughton credited his team's opponents for their defensive display, but is adamant that the scoreline flatters the Welsh outfit.

"It's absolutely frustrating because we had really long periods of control," said Hughton.

"Credit to Cardiff as they defended very well, but on the balance of play and chances we should've won comfortably.

"It certainly wasn't down to endeavour or the way we played. It's frustration because it should've been three points."

Consequently, Norwich remain in the relegation zone following the result.

Hughton will take his side to Old Trafford for a fourth-round League Cup clash with Manchester United on Tuesday, before resuming league commitments for an encounter with Manchester City next weekend.
