Norwich City, Cardiff City ends goalless

Cardiff City secure a 0-0 draw away at Norwich City.

Norwich City and Cardiff City have drawn 0-0 at Carrow Road this afternoon.

Norwich had the better of the game early on but were unable to test David Marshall in the Cardiff goal.

Peter Whittingham had an opportunity from a free kick but was unable to beat the first man.

Gary Hooper then almost got in behind the away defence, but the ball ran away from him.

Robert Snodgrass then had a sight of goal but could only fire wide.

That almost cost the Canaries moments later when Frazier Campbell pulled the ball back for Jordan Mutch, but John Ruddy managed to push his shot over the bar.

The ball was soon up the other end, however, and this time it was Jonny Howson who forced Marshall into a save with a low shot. From the resulting corner, Leroy Fer thought he had scored but Whittingham was able to clear off the line.

Hooper then hit a shot from distance but found Marshall's gloves again.

Just before the break, the ball rebounded off the Cardiff post and hit Hooper but, luckily for the away side, Marshall was able to gather.

Hooper came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock shortly after the break with a header that looped over.

Norwich then had an even better chance as Anthony Pilkington was inches away from reaching a Hooper cross.

Substitute Nathan Redmond stung the palms of Marshall as the chances continued to fall for the home side.

Fer thought he had won the match but, after he shot into into an empty net from a throw-in which Cardiff had given to Norwich, the referee disallowed the goal.
