Tony Pulis calls for action on divers

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis says that today's defeat at Norwich City was "disappointing".

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis believes that Robert Snodgrass dived to win the free kick that led to Norwich City's winning goal at Carrow Road this afternoon.

The Potters lost 1-0 in east Anglia thanks to Bradley Johnson's 44th-minute header, condemning the visitors to their third defeat in six games.

Pulis said that he went to see referee Andre Marriner after the game for an explanation, and believes that he will change his mind when he watches it back on TV tonight.

"The goal was a disappointment," said Pulis. "I have been in to see the referee to have a quick chat. I thought it certainly was not a free-kick, and the disappointing thing is when the lad falls, Andre and the linesman are so close to it.

"Referees give the decisions they see on the day, and he has seen it differently to what we have. When he sees it again on the telly tonight, he will have a different opinion.

"I think the [diving] situation should be taken completely out of the hands of the referees and it should be retrospective on a Monday, there should be a panel which sits to decide whether a player has dived or not, that eases the pressure on referees and they only make that decision if they are 110% certain someone has cheated."

Stoke sit 15th in the Premier League following today's result.
