Three points against Peterborough United will push Southampton a long way to securing promotion. Here, Sports Mole assesses their chances at London Road.

Southampton can take a big stride to cementing a return to the Premier League tomorrow night.

For that to come to fruition the Saints must defeat Peterborough United, while West Ham United must fail to claim maximum points from their trip to Bristol City.

Nigel Adkins's side will have to make do without the services of Morgan Schneiderlin, Tadanari Lee and David Connolly for the trip to London Road, while Radhi Jaidi could return from a knee problem.

Gaby Zakuani will be absent for hosting Peterborough with a shoulder complaint.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson may also not be able to call upon striker Emile Sinclair, who has an ankle injury.

The two sides have only met on three previous occasions in the league. Southampton are yet to lose to their hosts, winning twice and drawing the other encounter.

They are also yet to lose a match this season when they have scored the opening goal in.

Current form:

Peterborough: LLWDLL
Southampton: WWLDWL

Possible lineups:

Peterborough: Jones; Alcock, Little, Brisley, Rowe; Frecklington, McCann, Tomlin, Boyd; Barnett, Ball

Southampton: Davis; Butterfield, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox; De Ridder, Hammond, Cork, Lallana; Sharp, Lambert

Sports Mole says: 2-3
