Polish FA chief Grzegorz Lato backtracks on quit claims

The head of the Polish FA Grzegorz Lato goes back on claims that he would quit the governing body if Poland fail to reach the knock-out stages of Euro 2012.

The head of the Polish Football Association Grzegorz Lato has insisted that he will not quit his position following Poland's exit from Euro 2012.

The co-hosts crashed out of the tournament at the group stage following a 1-0 defeat to the Czech Republic on Saturday.

Lato previously claimed that he would take the "manly decision" and walk away from his post if the national side failed to reach the quarter-finals.

"I don't see any reason for me to resign because the team did not advance out of the group," BBC Sport quotes Lato as saying. "I and the association did everything for our team to prepare them for the Euros."

Czech Republic along with Greece qualified for the knock-out rounds, while Poland and Russia were sent packing.
