Roy Hodgson hopeful David Beckham will stay in football after retirement

England manager Roy Hodgson hopes that David Beckham will stay within the game in some capacity following his decision to retire from football.

England manager Roy Hodgson is hopeful that David Beckham will remain in football following his decision to retire from the game.

The 38-year-old will play two more games for Paris Saint-Germain before hanging up his boots on an illustrious career.

"David is a man of many talents and a lot of people now will be wanting him for different jobs and roles, some of which could take him away from us in football," Hodgson told Sky Sports News.

"But I'm rather hoping we'll be able to keep him in football because we can really benefit from his experience, we can really benefit from his charisma and we certainly benefit from the magnificent past he has had as a football player."

Beckham leaves behind a career that included stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as an international tenure with England amassing 115 caps.
