Paris Saint-Germain pick up ninth straight win in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain thrash Troyes 4-1 to extend their winning run in Ligue 1 to nine games.

Paris Saint-Germain earned their ninth successive Ligue 1 victory with a 4-1 win over bottom club Troyes this evening, extending their lead at the top of the league to 16 points in the process.

Both teams paid tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks before kickoff, as it was PSG's first home game since the incidents which rocked the French capital.

When play got underway, Edinson Cavani's third-minute header was parried wide by Paul Bernardoni before the Uruguayan went close with another header less than 60 seconds later.

Troyes almost took a shock lead after 10 minutes, but Kevin Trapp reacted well to turn away Fabien Camus's attempt.

However, Cavani put PSG 1-0 up with his third attempt of the match as he cleverly flicked home Angel di Maria's cross in the 20th minute.

Troyes gave a reminder of their threat on the break when Benjamin Nivet forced Trapp into a save with his feet late in the first half.

Lucas Moura carved out three chances early in the second half, but he could not find a way past Bernardoni with any of them.

Moira continued to cause problems for Troyes and the Brazilian earned his side a penalty after 58 minutes, which Zlatan Ibrahimovic dispatched with aplomb.

Layvin Kurzawa made it 3-0 shortly after with a powerful finish from an acute angle after Troyes failed to properly clear the ball.

PSG continued to pepper the Troyes goal as Kurzawa was denied by Bernardoni before Di Maria fired over and Ibrahimovic sent a free kick wide.

With six minutes remaining, Jean-Kevin Augustin grabbed PSG's fourth with a thunderous strike.

Thomas Ayasse pulled a goal back for the visitors in injury time, but PSG cruised to victory as their dominance in the league continues.
