Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry has announced that he is determined to battle for his place in Mark Hughes's team in the face of strong competition from summer signings.
Samba Diakite has signed a permanent deal with QPR and the club have signed Park Ji-Sung in recent days, but Derry believes that there is still a place for him in the starting XI should he work for it.
"There are players that can cover all positions and to get players from the likes of Manchester United coming here, it's great for the club," Derry said.
"Competition is going to be unbelievable. Last year was fantastic to play in. I'm hopeful that I can stick around and prove a point next [season]."
Derry has made 74 league appearances for QPR since joining the club in 2010.
