Adel Taarabt says that he is willing to fight for his place at Queens Park Rangers following the acquisition of a number of new players at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt believes that the new signings will encourage competition for places within the squad.

The West London outfit have been swift in the transfer market, clinching six signings after just two weeks into the summer window.

While QPR boss has added the likes of former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung and ex-West Ham United goalkeeper Robert Green, the Welshman has also secured the services of Taarabt for another four years.

"It is good because before we didn't have the big names and some people knew they were going to play all season," said Taarabt.

"Now we know we are bringing in players and if you don't play good then maybe you're going to lose your place in the starting XI. This is good, it puts on pressure to make you play well.

"With the signings we have made, hopefully we will not be fighting relegation again. We want to improve and we are going to do our best to get as good a place as we can."

Meanwhile, club chairman Tony Fernandes recently revealed that there are plans to build a new stadium for the former Championship outfit.
