What started with a summer full of new arrivals and hope ended in arguably one of the most embarrassing seasons in the recent history of Queens Park Rangers.
Not even the November appointment of Harry Redknapp, who replaced the sacked Mark Hughes, could prevent the R's from not only being relegated, but finishing bottom of the Premier League table.
Here, Sports Mole looks back over a largely disappointing few months at Loftus Road.
August
There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding Swansea City following the departure of manager Brendan Rodgers and the arrival of Michael Laudrup, so they were seen as good opening day opponents for QPR.
It proved to be a nightmare for Hughes's men though as they shipped five unanswered goals on a sunny afternoon in West London. Owner Tony Fernandes had parted with a lot of money since his arrival, but he must have wished that he paid just the £2m that Swansea did for Michu - the Spanish attacker scored twice on his debut for the Swans.
A 1-1 draw at Norwich followed, before Walsall were comfortably beaten in the Capital One Cup.
September
Four matches came and went in September without a victory, although the majority were tricky fixtures. Trips to champions Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur ended in defeats, but the R's did manage to claim a credible 0-0 draw from their home clash with London rivals Chelsea.
However, one route to Wembley was ended when Reading won the Capital One Cup encounter between the two sides at Loftus Road.

October
The R's had now gone two months without a victory and there was not end to that run in October as the pressure started to mount on Hughes.
It was three defeats out of four as West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal all claimed maximum points. The defeat against the Gunners was particularly painful because it looked as though a point had been achieved until Mikel Arteta struck six minutes from time.
A moment's respite was provided by a 1-1 home draw with Everton.
November
The 3-1 home loss to fellow strugglers Southampton at Loftus Road saw Fernandes lose patience with his winless manager. Hughes was relieved of his duties and Redknapp was on in the stands for the trip to Old Trafford. Jamie Mackie actually put Rangers in front against Manchester United, but they went on to lose the match 3-1.
Redknapp's first match in charge ended in a 0-0 draw away at Sunderland, with several reports having praised the defensive display of the QPR team.
December
Further draws against Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic were collected, before in what was their 17th attempt, QPR won a match in the Premier League. Adel Taarabt was the hero, scoring both goals during the 2-1 victory over Fulham.
It failed to act as a springboard though and defeats against Newcastle United, West Brom and Liverpool followed over the Christmas period.

January
It appeared that the team's fortunes had changed with the turn of the year as they remained unbeaten from a difficult set of Premier League fixtures.
Shaun Wright-Phillips scored the only goal of the game away at Chelsea, before 0-0 draws were claimed from home clashes with Tottenham and Manchester City.
There was also a win in round three of the FA Cup over West Brom, but this followed up later in the month by a humiliating 4-2 defeat in the next round to League One outfit MK Dons.
On the transfer front, Redknapp spent big by bringing in French international striker Loic Remy and former Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba. Andros Townsend and Jermaine Jenas also joined from Spurs.
February
The situation began to look bleak for Redknapp and his players after they failed to win any of their three matches in February.
A 0-0 draw at home to Norwich was accompanied by heavy defeat away at Swansea City. The month was brought to a close when champions-elect Man United ran out 2-0 winners at Loftus Road.
March
It appeared that despite their precarious position, there was still plenty of fight left in the QPR squad as March came around. Remy showed good goalscoring form during vital wins over fellow relegation candidates Southampton and Sunderland.
The crucial blow came away at Aston Villa though. Despite dominating large parts of the match, Paul Lambert's side boosted their chances of survival with a 3-2 victory.

April
The £12m that the club used to purchase Samba was heavily mocked after the centre-back made two glaring errors away at Fulham in early April. The R's went into the break 3-1 down, but despite creating numerous chances, they were unable to grab a share of the spoils.
Further heartbreak followed next time out when a stoppage-time free kick from Shaun Maloney rescued a 1-1 draw for Wigan at Loftus Road. Then, 2-0 defeats to Everton and Stoke City left the R's on the cusp of relegation.
It was eventually confirmed on the last weekend of the month during a 0-0 draw with Reading, who were also demoted at the same time.
May
Theo Walcott scored after just 21 seconds as Arsenal left their London neighbours with all three points, before two mistakes from Jose Bosingwa allowed Newcastle United to travel back to Tyneside with a 2-1 victory.
The season ended with a slender 1-0 defeat away at Liverpool in what was Jamie Carragher's final match as a professional footballer, which in turn meant that the R's bowed out of the top flight on a 10-game winless run.
