Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes backs Chris Ramsey to "flourish"

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes believes that Chris Ramsey will thrive in his role as the club's permanent head coach.

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has backed Chris Ramsey to "flourish" in his role as the club's permanent head coach.

Ramsey, who has signed a three-year contract at Loftus Road, failed to keep the team in the Premier League after becoming interim manager back in February.

However, Fernandes is confident that the 53-year-old will do all that he can in helping the R's return to the top flight next season.

"When Chris took over the role we were already in a very difficult position, yet despite our relegation, we – as a board – have been impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail he has demonstrated since becoming head coach," he told QPR's official website.

"He lives and breathes management and coaching, and I am sure he will flourish in this role, as we look to bounce back from this season's disappointments. This is a new start for us and one I am confident Chris will relish playing a major part in."

Rangers play their final game of the season on Sunday when they make the trip to Leicester City.
