QPR manager Mark Hughes is considering placing a Twitter ban on his players after recent indiscretions.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes is threatening to ban his players from using social networking site Twitter.

On-loan Hoops striker Federico Macheda was fined £15,000 by the Football Association for using homophobic language in one of his tweets.

The Italian also tweeted angrily after not featuring in Rangers' 1-1 draw with Everton last weekend.

"The players have to understand that comments about the football club are off-limits," said Hughes.

"When players transgress, they obviously have to expect to have sanctions. We are constantly reviewing our disciplinary procedures to get a better understanding of the problem. That will be fully in place leading into next year.

"This is not going to go away anytime soon but as long as the players have an understanding on our policy there's no issue."

QPR's Joey Barton is one of the most active Premier League footballers on Twitter, with 1,326,237 followers.
