Harry Redknapp surprised to sign "beast" Sandro

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says that he did not expect to be able to sign the "top-quality" Sandro this summer.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is pleasantly surprised to have been able to sign Sandro.

The Brazilian sealed a deadline-day switch to Loftus Road from Tottenham Hotspur, signing a three-year deal to team up with Redknapp again following their time at Spurs.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 67-year-old claims that Sandro was a "massive target" for him, but did not expect the move to ever materialise.

"He's been a massive target of mine all summer and I honestly didn't think we'd be able to pull it off – it's a real statement from the club, from the owners, to bring in a player of his undoubted ability," he said.

"He brings energy, aggression, power and quality. They call him the Beast. He's not only a top-quality footballer, but a fantastic boy as well. He'll lead by example for us.

"Tottenham fans loved him and I'm sure the QPR fans will too."

Redknapp also tied up another loan move for Niko Kranjcar, who helped the West London club win promotion to the Premier League last season.
