Charlie Austin "turned down" Premier League move

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin says that he rejected a move to a Premier League club this summer as it 'was not right for him and his family'.

Charlie Austin has claimed that he "turned down" a move to a Premier League club to remain at Queens Park Rangers.

The Hoops striker was the subject of intense speculation throughout the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United thought to have been particularly interested.

QPR were reluctant to part company with their star asset unless a bid of £15m was made, meaning that he will remain in place at Loftus Road until January at the very least.

However, Austin has now revealed that he rejected a Premier League approach, telling talkSPORT: "I turned down a move which wasn't right for me and my family.

"I didn't feel it was right for me to go - so I stayed at QPR. For me now I am getting my head down. I try to score as many goals as I can and perform to the best of my ability and help QPR achieve our goal - which is promotion come May."

Leicester City were the other top-flight outfit rumoured to have made a bid for the England hopeful.
