Tony Fernandes "optimistic" of keeping Loic Remy

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes says that he is "moderately optimistic" of keeping Loic Remy at the club.

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has claimed that he is "moderately optimistic" of keeping Loic Remy.

The France international striker was on the verge of a £8.5m move to Liverpool before the Anfield club pulled the plug on the deal, claiming that the forward had failed his medical.

Fernandes told talkSPORT: "Nothing is ever cast in stone in football, but I am moderately optimistic Remy will be wearing the Hoops' shirt throughout this season.

"I have a special relationship with Remy from playing FIFA with him and I hope to continue playing FIFA 15 with him throughout the season!"

Newcastle United are reportedly showing an interest in Remy.
