Rangers defender Danny Wilson out to prove sceptics wrong

Rangers defender Danny Wilson stands by his decision to rejoin the club.

Rangers defender Danny Wilson has insisted that he does not need to justify his decision to return to Ibrox.

The 23-year-old, who rejoined the club from Hearts this week, turned down the chance to play in the Scottish Premiership next season with the Edinburgh outfit.

Scottish champions Celtic were also rumoured to be interested in Wilson.

"I'm quite happy with the decision that I made," he told BBC Sport. "People can be surprised if they like but hopefully we won't be playing in this league for too long.

"Hopefully we'll get promoted and be back challenging and maybe people who have been a bit sceptical will understand my reasons. It's my decision, it's my life."

Rangers kick off their 2015-16 Scottish Championship campaign at home to St Mirren on August 8.
