Reading striker Adam Le Fondre insists that he wants to start more games considering his impressive form this season.

Reading striker Adam Le Fondre has insisted that he does not want to be known as a 'super sub' and needs to start more games.

The 26-year-old has scored 12 goals this season, including a double in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

However, despite the impressive form, Le Fondre has only started eight games in the league and the forward says that he wants that to change after speaking to Brian McDermott.

"It's surreal for me," Le Fondre told The Telegraph. "If you look at where I've come from to be one of the leading goalscorers in the Premier League, and the second English scorer after Theo Walcott, it's brilliant. I'm buzzing.

"The last thing I want is to be known as a super-sub. I want to be a starter. Before this batch of five, I had only got one from the bench and six from starting.

"I've spoken to the gaffer enough times. We spoke this morning about it. I said: 'I know why we are playing 4-5-1. It makes us miles more solid. It's tough for me to take because I'm scoring.' He said: 'I want to start you but we are doing something that's working. I totally agreed. I want to play but the main objective is to stay up."

Le Fondre joined Reading from Rotherham United in 2011.
