Reading have been crowned champions of English football's second tier after title rivals Southampton went down at Middlesbrough this evening.
Billy Sharp had given the Saints an early lead but goals from Nicky Bailey and Merouane Zemmama meant that Middlesbrough kept their playoff hopes alive.
Brian McDermott's Royals, who sealed promotion to the Premier League in midweek, could only draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace this afternoon but claim the title because Southampton are four points adrift with just one game remaining.
