Reading 3-1 Blackpool

Reading secure a vital 3-1 victory over Blackpool at the Madejski Stadium in the race for promotion.

Reading have continued their impressive run of form with a 3-1 victory over Blackpool at the Madejski Stadium

After a fairly cagey opening to the contest, it was Reading who broke the deadlock after 30 minutes.

Veteran full-back Ian Hart found the breakthrough as he rifled his shot home from inside the six-yard box.

The Royals doubled their advantage just five minutes later as Alex Pearce headed home Jobi McAnuff's inviting cross.

Blackpool got themselves back in the game just before half time as Lomana Lua-Lua produced a magnificent effort to beat Matt Gilks from long range.

Mikele Leigertwood restored Reading's two-goal advantage on 60 minutes as he found space in the six-yard box to head home Harte's cross.

The home side controlled the closing stages of the match and nearly extended their lead through Noel Hunt but the forward missed the target from inside the area.
