Iker Casillas: 'Atletico Madrid still a big threat'

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas says that Atletico Madrid will be a threat in both Spain and Europe again this season.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has claimed that Atletico Madrid are a threat to his side's chances of success in La Liga and the Champions League this season.

Atletico won their first La Liga title since 1996 last term and also reached the final of the Champions League, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

The loss of key players in the summer was expected to harm Atletico's challenge this term, but Casillas has said that the capital side remain a big danger for Los Blancos.

"Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are our rivals in domestic competitions, and I think they'll both fight until the end for the league," he told AS.

"We also hope [to fight for La Liga] because we're doing really well at the moment. In Europe? Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid."

Real Madrid won their 10th European Cup last season.
