A 4-1 victory on the night gives Real Madrid a 5-2 aggregate win over CSKA Moscow in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Real Madrid have booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory over CSKA Moscow.

Goals from Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema were enough to give the Spanish side a 5-2 aggregate win over their Russian opponents.

Madrid took the lead after 26 minutes when Higuain had the simple task of tapping in Kaka's ball across the six-yard box.

Their lead was doubled 10 minutes into the second half as Ronaldo long-range drive bounced in front of CSKA goalkeeper Sergei Chepchugov before going in.

Los Blancos put the game out of reach with 20 minutes to play when substitute Benzema fired past Chepchugov after the keeper had saved his original effort.

CSKA gave themselves a glimmer of hope minutes later when former Manchester United midfielder Zoran Tosic's drive flew in off the underside of the crossbar.

However, the win was sealed in injury time when Ronaldo tapped in from the unselfish Benzema.
