Real Madrid striker Joselu is reportedly set to miss around three weeks of action due to an ankle injury.

Real Madrid forward Joselu has reportedly been sidelined for three weeks due to an ankle injury.

The Spain international underwent medical examination after being unable to take part in team training over the last few days.

On Friday, Real Madrid released a statement to confirm that the Espanyol loanee had sustained an injury to his right ankle.

The statement read: "After the tests carried out on our player Joselu by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with bone edema in his right ankle. Evolution pending".

While Real Madrid have not disclosed a time frame for Joselu's recovery, AS are reporting that the striker is set to miss three weeks of action.

As a result, Joselu is expected to be sidelined for at least four matches, including Sunday's meeting with Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Joselu will also be absent for league games against Valencia and Celta Vigo as well as the return leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig.

The 33-year-old may also be a doubt for the away clash with Osasuna in Real Madrid's final game before the international break in March.

While he has not been a guaranteed start, Joselu has played an important role for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, having scored 13 goals in 35 competitive appearances.

Joselu has joined an injury list which includes long-term absentees Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba, who are all working their way back from anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

Real Madrid's top scorer Jude Bellingham is also on the sidelines after missing the last two matches with an ankle problem.

In addition to those injury concerns, Ancelotti will have to cope without the suspended Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga this weekend.

However, Real Madrid could welcome back Antonio Rudiger, who is trying to prove his fitness in time for Sunday's home clash with Sevilla.

Los Blancos are currently sitting top of the Spanish top flight with a six-point cushion over Girona in second position.
