Carlo Ancelotti: 'La Liga is difficult for referees'

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes that "referees are under more pressure" in Spain than in any other major European league.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that La Liga is the hardest league for referees to officiate.

Ancelotti has previously coached in Italy, England and France, but believes that "referees are under more pressure" in Spain than in any other major European league.

"The difference when compared to other countries is that here, like in Italy, referees are under more pressure," he told reporters at a press conference.

"Under pressure, it's difficult for them to do their job."

Madrid face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals this evening, with Los Blancos holding a 3-0 lead from the first leg.
