Chris Coleman: 'Gareth Bale should stay at Real Madrid'

Wales boss Chris Coleman believes that Gareth Bale should stay at Real Madrid and forget about returning to the Premier League.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has expressed his belief that Gareth Bale would be better off staying at Real Madrid and forgetting about the Premier League.

The winger has come under fire from the club's supporters and local media in recent weeks due to a string of low-key performances.

Chelsea have been linked with bringing the former Tottenham Hotspur man back to London, and it has also been suggested that Manchester United could swap him for their Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, but Coleman believes that Bale has what it takes to succeed at Real.

"He should stay where he is," Coleman told the Daily Mail. "Chelsea are a huge club and have been successful as are Manchester United - but Real Madrid is Real Madrid.

"Gareth's good enough to win the big trophies, play on the big stage and play with the biggest club. It is different from Manchester United or Chelsea because while there is pressure on them to perform in every game, at Madrid it is almost like a show and there has to be entertainment.

"You have to be one of the best to play for them and, in my opinion, Gareth is good enough to win trophies and entertain at Real Madrid at the highest level."

Bale ended a run of nine games without a goal on Sunday by scoring twice in Real's 2-0 win over Levante.
