Paulo Pelaipe says that Flamengo will not be making a move for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

Flamengo director Paulo Pelaipe has said that the club cannot afford Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

The 31-year-old is keen to stay in the Spanish capital, but his future is once again in doubt.

Pelaipe admitted that he would be interested in a move for the Brazilian, but his €10m (£8.4m) annual salary rules them out of the running.

"His move could excite the fans, but I am cautious and I'm not a braggart," he told ESPN.

"A club as large as Flamengo cannot say its doors are closed. We are open to new faces, but Flamengo has a transfer policy that is grounded. We are trying to recover financially and we assume that we cannot meet his expenses."

Kaka started 11 games for Los Blancos this season.
