Spanish giants Real Madrid would reportedly like to see Brahim Diaz return to the club once his current loan deal with AC Milan expires at the end of this season.
The former Manchester City youngster has had an impressive spell with the Serie A outfit, which has caught the eye of his parent club, who are allegedly now keen to integrate him into their first-team plans.
Calciomercato reports that the expected departure of winger Lucas Vazquez – whose contract expires this summer – will make room for a place in Madrid's first-team squad that Diaz can fill.
AC Milan's sporting director Paolo Maldini is keen for the 21-year-old to stay but with a permanent move from the Bernabeu unlikely, the Italian club may switch their attention to Vazquez as a possible alternative.
Diaz would allegedly be keen on a return to the Spanish capital as long as he is assured regular game time, having previously struggled to cement a place in Zinedine Zidane's team.
The attacking midfielder has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Milan so far this campaign, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
