Schalke 04 release Sidney Sam and Kevin-Prince Boateng, as well as suspending midfielder Marco Hoger.

Schalke 04 have confirmed that Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam have both been released with immediate effect.

The Bundesliga outfit have made the announcement in the wake of yesterday's 2-0 defeat away at FC Koln.

Sam's contract was not due to expire until the summer of 2018, while midfielder Boateng had 12 months left to run on his deal at the Veltins-Arena.

It has also been revealed that the versatile Marco Hoger has been suspended from playing or training up to and including Saturday, May 16.
