Jack Wilshere backs Scotland for Euro 2016

England's Jack Wilshere says that Scotland have enough quality in their ranks to qualify for Euro 2016.

England midfielder Jack Wilshere has said that he saw enough of Scotland in Tuesday's friendly to believe that they can qualify for Euro 2016.

Gordon Strachan's side went down 3-1 to the Three Lions at Celtic Park this week, but Wilshere is convinced that they boast enough quality to reach the finals.

They sit second in Group D, level on points with Germany and the Republic of Ireland and three behind leaders Poland, and the Arsenal man hopes to see Scottish representation in France.

"I do think Scotland have the quality to get to the European Championships," he told reporters. "They have a lot ability in the team and a lot of guys who play at a high level every week.

"Scotland also have a lot of good young players coming through so they definitely have the quality to get to the finals.

"I would welcome them qualifying as well. There's a rivalry between the countries but at the same time you want to see the home nations do well. You can imagine what a game at the Euros between Scotland and England would be like!"

Scotland have not qualified for a major tournament since World Cup '98.
