Gordon Strachan: 'Scotland can cope with pressure'

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan claims that his players can cope with the pressure of having to beat Slovakia in their World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park.

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has revealed that he is excited ahead of his side's must-win World Cup qualifier with Slovakia.

The Tartan Army sit in fourth position in Group F, but victory over second-placed Slovakia would take Strachan's side into another key fixture with Slovenia on Sunday.

However, rather than feeling the pressure of trying to lead Scotland to a first World Cup since 1998, Strachan cannot wait for the game to start at Hampden Park.

The 60-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We've had to deal with must-win games in the last four. Momentum is good at the moment. It's really exciting for me taking on this challenge.

"We've put together the basis of a team plan. The players themselves will determine how the game goes. It's all down to the players."

Scotland are unbeaten in their last four qualifying fixtures.
