Unai Emery: 'League will take priority'

Sevilla boss Unai Emery hints that he will prioritise La Liga over the Europa League in the final months of the season.

Sevilla boss Unai Emery has hinted that he will prioritise La Liga over the Europa League in the final months of the season.

Sunday's 3-0 win over Elche moved Sevilla to within four points of fourth-placed Atletico Madrid in the table.

Emery's side are also on course for the quarter-finals of the Europa League after recording a 3-1 win over Villarreal in the first leg of their last-16 clash last week.

Emery, however, has claimed that he wants to "pursue a line of consistency in the league" and his team selection is expected to reflect that in the coming weeks.

"We want to pursue a line of consistency in the league, in addition to the excitement generated by the Europa League, because it's our route back into Europe [next season]," Emery told reporters.

Sevilla are the current holders of the Europa League.
