Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner has revealed his delight at securing the signing of Dave Winfield on a free transfer from Wycombe Wanderers.
The 25-year-old, who helped Wycombe to promotion during his first season with the club, will officially join Shrewsbury at the beginning of next month.
"He's delighted to be joining us and sees it as a big challenge. He's a big, strong lad who is effective in both boxes," Turner told the club's official website.
"It's a big challenge for him coming here and there's plenty of scope for him to improve yet."
A number of lower league clubs were believed to be monitoring proceedings.
