Sam McQueen signs long-term deal with Southampton

Southampton announce that Sam McQueen has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract at St Mary's.

Sam McQueen has said that he will continue to work hard at Southampton after penning a new long-term deal at St Mary's.

The versatile left-sided player has been rewarded for breaking into the first team this year with a contract which will run until 2021, and he has admitted that he is delighted to have been given the chance to commit his future to the Saints.

The 21-year-old told the club's official website: "It feels really good, as you'd expect. I'm delighted to sign a new deal with the club, having been here for so long already.

"It has been years and years of hard work to get to this point. I'm really happy to be out on the pitch playing games for the first team.

"The last couple of months have been amazing for me and this new contract really just rounds that off. Now it's important that I keep working hard and make as much of an impression as I can."

McQueen has made a total of 10 first-team appearances this season, five of which have come in the Premier League.
