Report: Wesley Sneijder not Southampton target

Southampton are not interested in signing Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder, but several Premier League clubs are circling ahead of a January bid, a report claims.

Midfielder Wesley Sneijder is reportedly not a January target for Southampton, despite the Saints being linked with a move for the Dutchman.

Sneijder is expected to leave Turkish side Galatasaray this winter, and a switch to the Premier League has long been suggested for the former Real Madrid man.

However, PA claims that while Southampton are not in the running, a number of Premier League clubs are interested in the 30-year-old, who played a pivotal part in Netherlands' World Cup campaign.

Galatasaray are rumoured to be open to selling Sneijder to help their financial situation, and the player is said to be very keen on playing in England after previous stints in Spain and Italy.

Sneijder's contract runs out in the summer of 2016.
