Report: Southampton to offer Nathaniel Clyne new contract

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is preparing to offer highly-rated defender Nathaniel Clyne a new contract, according to reports.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is looking to put an end to transfer speculation surrounding defender Nathaniel Clyne by offering the 23-year-old a new contract, according to reports.

The Saints full-back has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, with Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal said to be willing to offer around £25m for the England international.

However, the Daily Star claims that Koeman is preparing to offer Clyne, whose current deal at St Mary's expires in 18 months' time, a new contract.

Clyne joined Southampton in 2012 from Crystal Palace.
