Southend United boss Phil Brown has revealed that he wants to sign "two or three" players before the end of the month.
The Blues are currently in sixth place in the League Two table thanks to a four-game unbeaten run.
However, with his side averaging just one goal per game this season, Brown is eager to boost his options in attack.
"I'd like to have gone out on January 1 and brought in two strikers. That's the area of concern," he told the club's official website. "It's not the biggest squad here: we have six or seven youth players in the squad. We want to add in key areas.
"We're in a good position and in a better place as a squad than this time last season. I want to bring another two or three in, short term or long term."
Southend are back in league action on Saturday when they entertain fellow promotion hopefuls Plymouth Argyle.
