Gerard Pique defends Pedro outburst

Spain defender Gerard Pique believes that Pedro's complaints about a lack of playing time at Euro 2016 are understandable for a player of his calibre.

Spain defender Gerard Pique has defended teammate Pedro after the forward complained about a lack of playing time at Euro 2016.

Pedro has featured for just 10 minutes during this summer's tournament so far, being introduced as a late substitute during the 1-0 win over Czech Republic in their opening group game.

The Chelsea man suggested that being left among the subs was not worth staying with the team for, but Pique believes that such comments are understandable for a player of his calibre.

"This is a normal statement from a player who wants to play more," he told reporters.

"Players like Pedro have had a significant career and want to continue playing and providing for the team."

Pedro has made 58 appearances for Spain since 2010, scoring 17 goals.
