Jorge Perez: 'We want Vicente del Bosque to stay'

Director of football Jorge Perez reveals that everyone within the Spanish Football Federation is keen for Vicente del Bosque to remain as the national team coach.

Director of football Jorge Perez has revealed that the Spanish Football Federation hopes that Vicente del Bosque continues in his position as national team coach.

Spain's early exit from the World Cup has led to speculation about Del Bosque's future, but Perez has indicated that they will do all they can to ensure that the legendary coach remains in charge for their Euro 2016 qualification campaign.

Perez told Spanish radio station Cope: "From top to bottom in the federation, we are all behind Del Bosque. If we have the best coach around, why would we change?

"We still haven't spoken with Del Bosque because we think that it is better to put a bit of distance between us and then talk calmly.

"He won't be affected by the criticism, but his family might convince him to leave. We won't find anyone better. If he tries to resign, we will try to convince him to stay."

Del Bosque has won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in 2012 since taking charge of Spain six years ago.
