Sergio Ramos has claimed that Spain can't afford to look ahead past the group stages as they prepare to begin the defence of their World Cup title.
Spain are once again among the favourites to be crowned champions in Brazil, but Ramos insists that it is imperative to be fully focused on a challenging Group B, which also includes Chile, Australia and the Netherlands.
"First up there are three excellent teams in Holland, Chile and Australia before we can start thinking about the second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final," the Real Madrid defender is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
"We have to take it one game at a time, which is what will guide us to success, that alongside humility and hard work.
"I've won a lot of trophies but in football you can't live in the past, you have to keep proving yourself every day."
Spain begin their campaign against the Netherlands on Friday night.
