Hugo Lloris: 'Tottenham Hotspur progress part of process'

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris claims that Tottenham Hotspur are going through "a process" after making significant improvements in the Champions League this season.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur needed to experience 'failure' before making progress in the Champions League.

Last season, Spurs failed to progress through the group stages but earlier in this campaign, the Premier League side topped a group which included Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Lloris has suggested that Mauricio Pochettino's side have benefitted from a negative experience, and has encouraged his teammates to continue their progress against Juventus on Wednesday night.

At a press conference, the 31-year-old told reporters: "It's part of the process. When you have a young team and such young players, even with such quality and potential, you need to live through different experiences and it was the case last season in the Champions League.

"We failed together and the best way is to learn very quickly and that's what we've done together. Before the draw of the group stage, outside everyone was a bit concerned about the future of Tottenham because the group stage was very competitive but we showed our quality and we showed the potential that we've got inside. Now we've got to carry on."

Spurs registered a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie in Turin.
