Ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle hits out at the Lilywhites' "attitude" after Thursday's Europa Conference League defeat to Vitesse.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle believes that the current crop of Lilywhites need to "look at themselves in the mirror" following Thursday's Europa Conference League defeat to Vitesse.

Nuno Espirito Santo made a full 11 changes to his starting lineup in Europe's third tier competition, and the reshuffle did not pay off as Maximilian Wittek's 78th-minute strike won the day for the Dutch hosts.

Spurs are on a two-game winning streak in the Premier League, but Hoddle believes that Thursday's defeat highlighted a poor "attitude" from Santo's players.

Speaking to BT Sport, Hoddle said: "It was a very, very poor performance. Through one - attitude. These players have got to look at themselves in the mirror.

"The Spurs fans that have travelled, they deserve better. But also there was a lack of ability. Sometimes you can say it's the desire and mental approach, that's one thing that wasn't there, but also the ability.

"There was no creativity, no one really wanted to run the game out there, no one wanted to stamp their authority. They weren't up for the test - I'm very disappointed."

Spurs have taken four points from their opening three Conference League group-stage matches and now prepare for Sunday's London derby with West Ham United.
