Tottenham Hotspur are on course to displace North London rivals Arsenal in third position in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur have started the final day of the Premier League in the best possible fashion after an early goal against Fulham this afternoon.

Harry Redknapp's men took the lead in just the second minute when Emmanuel Adebayor collected the ball on the left wing before exchanging passes with Rafael van der Vaart and slotting home.

Jake Livermore blazed over another chance as the hosts looked to strengthen their advantage as news of Arsenal going behind at West Brom reached the Spurs fans.

Kyle Walker sent a free kick easily into the palms of Schwarzer as the home side continued to press for a second.

Van der Vaart then fired just wide before John Arne Riise saw a rare Fulham effort palmed away by Brad Friedel.

As it stands, Spurs will grab third place from North London rivals Arsenal, as the Gunners are being held by West Brom.
