Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne insists that his side are not thinking of an unbeaten season following their 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that his side are not thinking about the prospect of going through the entire Premier League season unbeaten.

Pep Guardiola's men have made the best start to a campaign in English top-flight history, dropping just two points from their first 18 matches to storm into a 14-point lead before Christmas.

Saturday evening's 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur was a record-breaking 16th in a row in the Premier League, but De Bruyne insists that City's focus is simply on winning the title rather than going through the campaign unbeaten.

When asked whether City were thinking of achieving the feat, De Bruyne told BT Sport: "No, absolutely not.

"We are here to win titles. We had a great start, it's still more than half (of the season to go) so it's still very difficult - we want to win every game and everybody who comes in is doing an incredible job."

Preston North End (1888-89) and Arsenal (2003-04) are the only teams to have previously gone through a top-flight season unbeaten in England.
