Christian Eriksen clear of ligament damage

A scan shows that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen is free from ligament damage to his ankle.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Christian Eriksen suffered no ligament damage to his ankle while on international duty with Denmark.

The midfielder suffered the injury during Friday's 2-1 win over Norway, with manager Martin Olsen having admitted after the match that he had probably ruptured his ligaments.

However, Premier League outfit Spurs revealed this afternoon that following a scan, the problem is not as bad as was first feared.

"After an MRI scan it's been determined that @ChrisEriksen8 suffered a sprain of the lateral ankle ligaments playing for Denmark on Friday," read a message on the club's official Twitter page.

"Christian's scan showed no sign of ruptured ligaments which will result in a shorter period of recovery for the attacking midfielder."

Eriksen joined the North Londoners from Ajax during the summer.
