Report: Tottenham Hotspur to receive Christian Eriksen compensation

Tottenham Hotspur could receive up to £300,000 compensation from the Danish FA after Christian Eriksen suffered an ankle injury while on international duty.

Tottenham Hotspur could demand up to £300,000 compensation from the Danish FA after Christian Eriksen suffered possible ankle ligament damage on international duty.

The 21-year-old playmaker, an £11.5m signing from Ajax in the summer, was forced off in the first half of Denmark's 2-1 friendly win over Norway on Friday.

There have been conflicting reports on the extent of Eriksen's injury, but The Mirror claims that the Lillywhites are worried that he could be out until at least the New Year.

Any layoff longer than a month would entitle Spurs to be reimbursed Eriksen's wages for the duration of his stay on the sidelines, a precedent set by Arsenal when they argued that FAs around the world should pay for injuries sustained in internationals after Robin van Persie was crocked while playing for the Netherlands.

Eriksen, who has scored once in 12 Tottenham appearances this season, was still in a Copenhagen hospital on Saturday night, undergoing further tests to diagnose the exact problem.
