Chris Hughton says that Andre Villas-Boas is the right man for the Spurs job.

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has backed Andre Villas-Boas to come good at Tottenham Hotspur.

A late Robert Snodgrass equaliser earned the Canaries a point in their 1-1 draw on Saturday and extended Spurs' winless run under the Portuguese boss.

Despite the North Londoners' poor start to the campaign, Hughton firmly believes that Villas-Boas is the right man for the job at White Hart Lane.

"I'm sure he will be very successful. He's a very good manager, but when you are at a club like Tottenham, expectations are always high," said Hughton.

"I took over from a very successful manager, but you have to try to instill something different - either a different voice or playing style," Hughton said. "I've tried to improve the squad without taking away all the good things of the last few seasons."

Spurs travel to Reading on September 16, while Norwich host West Ham United the day before.
