Sandro: 'Newcastle United defeat was s***'

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro admits that Sunday's defeat to Newcastle United was a "s***" result, before backing Spurs to bounce back quickly.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro has conceded that last weekend's home defeat at the hands of Newcastle United was a "shit" result, before backing his side to respond at Manchester City after the international break.

Spurs slipped to their third loss of the season on Sunday, with Loic Remy's strike plus the goalkeeping heroics of Tim Krul enough to earn the Magpies a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane.

Sandro believes that Spurs must start to show consistency in results and performances to challenge at the top of the table, while insisting that they are good enough to bounce back and earn a positive result at the Etihad later this month.

He told The Mirror: "I believe we can win at City because if we play well ourselves we can beat any team. We are a good team.

"You have to win consecutive matches. Like from now, to win five games consecutively for this dream to come back.

"This defeat to Newcastle was shit. Now it is the time to go to Manchester City and beat them."

Andre Villas-Boas's side are seventh in the Premier League after 12 matches, but just five points behind league leaders Arsenal.
