Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week.

It was a bumper seven days of Premier League action this week with two rounds of matches played from Tuesday to Sunday.

By the end of it Manchester United had opened up a three-point gap over Manchester City at the top of the table, while Chelsea's woes continued with just one point from a possible six.

Harry Redknapp has still yet to win his first match as manager of bottom-placed Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur moved level on points with Chelsea following two victories in a row.

Here, Sports Mole picks out the 11 players who left their mark on a thrilling double dose of football.

Tim Howard (Everton)
The American was a solid presence at the back for the Toffees as they earned credible draws with both Arsenal and Manchester City respectively.

Ben Davies (Swansea)
In what was an incredible week for the Swans with two wins from two matches, the young Davies was full of composure in defence.
Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
The Potters conceded just one goal in their two games and Shawcross gave typically robust performances on both occasions.
Phil Jagielka (Everton)
If he was good against Arsenal, the England international was even better at Manchester City as the Merseysiders showed that they can mix it with the big boys.
Steven Caulker (Spurs)
He may only be 20, but Caulker is quickly establishing himself as a no-nonsense, trustworthy defender in a team that is finding some excellent form.

Wayne Routledge (Swansea)
Routledge didn't feature in his side's remarkable win at Arsenal, but he capped a fine display against Wes Brom in midweek with two goals.
Mohamed Diame (West Ham)
The powerful Senegalese really came into his own during Saturday's impressive 3-1 win over Chelsea and kept his cool to put his side in front with five minutes to play.
Marouane Fellaini (Everton)
Fellaini was at his unshakeable best during the draws with Arsenal and Manchester City. There's really little else to say apart from that he is one of the best midfielders in the league right now.
Gareth Bale (Spurs)
Forget the diving and the hilarious own goal against Liverpool, Bale has become a genuine threat in front of goal for Andre Villas-Boas's side.

Jermain Defoe (Spurs)
The England striker was at his lethal best against Fulham and took his tally to 12 for the season in all competitions. He makes goalscoring look like so much fun, doesn't he?
Michu (Swansea)
The Spaniard has been a revelation in the Premier League since joining Swansea from Rayo Vallecano in the summer and three goals in two games, including a match-winning brace at Arsenal, have enhanced his reputation as a great striker.
